SPACES Awards
Wednesday 10th November 2021
We will be holding our 2021 Awards Ceremony, including Civic Building of the Year at the Counting House, London.
Due to the ongoing effects of the Pandemic, we had to make difficult decisions on how we could run the awards. This year we will be running a lunchtime event to present the awards, with the option to view the award presentation online (via WebinarJam).

Meet SPACES members face to face
Technical Meeting
Tuesday 7th December 2021
There will be a joint Technical Meeting with CIBSE HCNE at the Counting House, London on Tuesday 7th December, followed by a Christmas Buffet.
The presenter will Hywel Davies, Technical Manager at CIBSE, and although the presentation is still tbc, it will be covering
Building Regulation Part L,
Building Safety Bill, and
the Golden Thread
As this is the Christmas meeting, the meeting will be followed by a Christmas Buffet. NB Due to pre-ordering Christmas Buffet is only available to order up to Friday 19th November 2021
Attendance at the meeting is free for SPACES members and CIBSE HCNE members, and £35+VAT for non-members (£5+VAT if not attending the buffet).

Annual General Meeting
Thursday 7th October @12:300pm
It is a requirement of the SPACES By-Laws that an Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held each year.
This year the AGM will be held online (using TEAMS) on Thursday 7th October 2021 from 12:30 to 1:30pm (NB The AGM should not last longer than 30 minutes). You can download a copy of the agenda, including information on positions vacant here.
All members who are registered members on 20th August 2021 and at the AGM can attend, with private or public members entitled to vote.
If you wish to attend or send your apologies, please register on our website. NB Registration will close at midday on Wednesday 6th October 2021 to allow time to send the joining instructions out.

Part M Research
As part of MHCLG ongoing commitments in the National Disability Strategy we are undertaking research to further understand the barriers disabled people encounter in and around buildings.

Net Zero Innovation Programme
The LGA’s Net Zero Innovation Programme brings together partnerships of researchers and climate change officers from councils across the country, and supports them in tackling the climate emergency.

Strategic Public Sector Property Asset Management, 3rd edition
The RICS Strategic Public Sector Property Asset Management Publication has recently been published.

Housing Advisers Programme
The LGA’s Housing Advisers Programme for 2021/22 is now open for applications.
The programme is designed to support councils by helping them meet their local housing need and provides funding for expert advice. It aims to be simple, flexible and locally led.

Code for Construction Product Information
The Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI), Code guidance and a manufacturer information pack have been launched to drive higher standards in the presentation of construction product information in the manufacturing industry.
The Code has been developed as a direct response to Dame Judith Hackitt’s independent review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety in the wake of the Grenfell Tower disaster. The Code promotes urgent positive culture and behaviour change in the approach and management of product information by the construction product manufacturing industry.

In the run up to COP26, the LGA are showcasing best practice from councils across England and Wales through their Pass the Planet campaign.

Architects from across the UK are being given the opportunity to shape the future of the profession, as part of a wholesale review that will modernise regulation and improve accessibility and innovation in the sector.

Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme
The Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme provides grants for public sector bodies to fund heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures.
Phase 3 of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme will open for applications on at 2pm on 6 October. It will close at 2pm on 3rd November 2021.
Phases 1 and 2 are now closed to applications.
