Tuesday 5th March Lunchtime – Changes to the Building Safety Act explained Kevin Blunden – Director of Building Consultancy – Acivico Group

The devastating fire at Grenfell Tower in June 2017 has led to the largest review and reform of the regulation of building safety for over 60 years.

The Building Safety Act 2022 associated Regulations and changes to the Building Act 1984 have established a new regime for the enforcement of Building Regulations and has created additional duties for all of those involved in the design, construction and management processes.

In April the final changes to regulations and standards come into force which implement the most significant changes to the control of safety in buildings for decades.

Alongside strengthened enforcement powers and sanctions for work which fail to meet standards, specific obligations are being placed on duty holders, including the Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.

All of those who are involved in the design and construction process, including Clients, Designers, Contractors and those who manage buildings will have significantly increased responsibility in respect of Building Safety, assessing competence and ensuring Building Regulation Compliance, and the webinar is intended to provide information to prepare everyone for their role in making buildings safer.
